Botswana Safari Camps

Botswana is one of Africa’s prime safari destinations with its superb range of wildlife and diverse habitats including the Okavango Delta, the World's largest inland delta – a lush green oasis in a dry land. The seasonal flooding creates an immense area of rich waterways that attract a huge concentration of animals and thereby creating excellent game viewing opportunities by both land and water based modes of transport.

The Linyanti region and Chobe National Park boast large populations of elephants, zebra and antelopes. During the wet season the Makgadikgadi pans, a massive expanse of blindingly white sand and salt attract one of Africa’s largest zebra populations and with such animals follow the inevitable predators which ensures exciting game viewing.

Visitors to Botswana enjoy superb game viewing and mainly tented accommodation. Intimate luxury tented camps on raised walkways, with en-suite bathrooms and well appointed rooms and decks offering amazing views of the surrounding wilderness.

Chief’s Island is the largest island in the delta and as the flood waters rise offers sanctuary to a huge amount of wildlife. The island has some wonderful camps such as its namesake, Chief’s Camp, a luxury bush camp situated within the Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve. Guests transfer into the camp by light aircraft to stay in just twelve thatched bush pavilions and enjoy game viewing activities by land and mokoro canoe (water levels permitting).

For an even more intimate atmosphere, Abu Camp only accommodates a maximum of ten guests in luxurious canvas rooms set on teak decking that snakes around majestic African Ebony and Sycamore Fig trees. With all power generated by solar energy this camp offers an authentic and remote safari experience but with the luxury of en-suite facilities, hot showers, four poster or sleigh beds and superb cuisine. Sanctuary Lodges are involved with the elephant’s perspective and visitors to Baines camp and Stanley’s Camp are a must for all devotees of these magnificent beasts.

Vumbura Plains sits in the far North of the Okavango Delta in a private concession. The camp is a luxury safari camp which comprises two separate seven-roomed satellite camps, both have raised decking areas which encompass the guests dining, lounge and bar area which is tucked beneath the shade of the indigenous trees.

The Kwando River concession is famous for huge herds of elephant and buffalo and the predators include lion, leopard, hyena and cheetah plus excellent wild dog viewing. Lagoon Camp, with just six tents and Lebala Camp with eight are both set on the Kwando River enhance a safari experience of privacy and wilderness.

Bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, the private Kwara concession can offer night drives, boat and mokoro trips, with walking and fishing that cannot be offered in the Moremi Game Reserve. Having both permanent water and seasonal flood plains the concession enjoys the best that the Okavango Delta can offer. Little Kwara camp has just five tents and is set on a shady island ensuring a truly intimate and personal African safari experience.

Botswana enjoys year round success as a safari destination with the wet season also offering exceptional game viewing as well as value for money.
