Olonana Camp on the Mara river
Olonana is perfect for a remote luxury safari in Kenya.
Situated on the banks of the Mara River on the borders of the Masai Mara reserve the heart of Kenya's Big Game country Olonana’s unique setting offers a world of remarkable opportunities for your safari adventure. In addition to some fabulous game drives in the Masai Mara Reserve, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a Maasai village to enjoy a rare glimpse of the day-to-day lives of the Maasai people.
This area of Kenya is seen as the traditional spot for a truly authentic East African safari. The lion are found in abundance here as are elephant, giraffe, a variety of gazelle species and zebra. Cheetah and leopard are also regularly seen. Game viewing is never dull in the Masai Mara, and patience is often rewarded with enthralling sightings such as a pride of lion stalking their prey; a solitary leopard retrieving its kill from the high branches of an acacia tree; male impala sparring to attract females into their harem; or even a herd of elephant protecting their young from opportunistic predators. Of course we can’t forget the infamous annual wildebeest migration that exhausts the Mara grasses from A
ugust-October before heading up into Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.
Olonana camp is a small remote and luxurious safari camp that consists of just 12 spacious permanent tented suites, each tastefully appointed with two comfortable queen-size beds, an ensuite bathroom with shower, and large, riverview verandahs. From your decking you will be able to enjoy a quiet evening drink, whilst watching the hippo frolicking just before heading out for their nightly grazing.
The cuisine at Olonana is sure to delight you. Meals can either be served al fresco perched on the Siria escarpment overlooking the Mara plains or as a picnic at a well chosen spot deep in the bush. If you fancy a quiet moment to look up the days sightings then there is a very comfortable library to entertain you.
You are entirely at your own pace at Olonana. Meals, and activities unfold around you at suitable times and are not scheduled with the exception of game drives that are set at times during the day most comfortable to guests and also at a time of day likely to catch most game out from the shade. Olonana enjoys a peaceful elegance that pervades through it’s personalised service and expert management team who will ensure you take home some unforgettable experiences of Kenya.
