Chamilandu in the South Luangwa in Zambia

Chamilandu in the South Luangwa National Park is a comfortable, stylish and elegant bush camp situated on the sandy banks of the Luangwa River.

Chamilandu camp is perfectly located for some fantastic game sightings. Surrounded by seven ox-bow lagoons the habitat yields a diverse and abundant selection of wildlife.

The three chalets are raised upon stilts, and offer a unique form of accommodation that provides an elevated view over the waters of the Luangwa River with the Nchindeni hills as a backdrop.

Chamilandu is exclusive and private, with a maximum of six clients at any given time. In addition to fabulous walking country and excellent game viewing opportunities the location affords itself to total relaxation. If you so wish you can watch the sunrise over the mountains in the morning before falling back to a blissful sleep in a luxurious four-poster bed.

Each tree-house chalet is open at the front providing a stunning 180° vista of elephant filled lagoons below. Following on with the open style the chalets each have a privately situated open-air shower and en-suite bathroom.

The interiors of Chamilandu’s tree-house chalets are tastefully decorated in wrought iron, brass and natural fabrics and are complete with fantastic four-poster beds. Game provides entertainment during dinner which is served in the spacious thatch-roof bar on the banks of the river, or in a spacious and secluded hide, which overlooks a water hole.

The staff at Chamilandu pride themselves on first-class guiding. This area is home to an abundance of wildlife and the river attracts huge pods of hippos, crocodiles and wonderful bird life.

Chamilandu offers fantastic walking safaris both in the morning and evening and also to take you a little further afield day and night game drives.

In addition to fabulous sightings of elephant and hippo there are plenty of leopard, wild dogs, and for the last few years a large colony of Carmine Bee eaters migrates here in the later parts of the year to nest opposite camp.
