The great migration

The infamous river crossing of thousands of Wildebeest.

Shadowing the seasonal movements of the migration ...

Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp.

The Serengeti National Park is often the destination of choice for a luxury safari in Tanzania.

The Serengeti is not only one of Tanzania's oldest reserves but also one of the most famous conservation areas of the World and host to the most spectacular wildlife event – the annual Great Migration. These immense herds of herbivores – including zebra and, most famously, Wildebeest, surge across the Serengeti which has no man-made barriers and the endless plains sweep on uninterrupted to the horizon - a constant inspiration for photographers and wildlife lovers.

Arriving on an international flight into Kilimanjaro, an hour’s drive to Arusha Airport and guests can board a light aircraft for the one hour 35minute flight for the start of their luxury safari which is sure to be an unforgettable stay of exceptional wildlife viewing.

Set in a remote corner of this awesome park, Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp sits right on the banks of a bi-water of the Grumeti River. The river is a crossing point of some two million animals on their annual journey into the Masai Mara as they are driven on by instinct into the river risking death in the jaws of some of Africa’s largest crocodiles that the Grumeti River is famous for. Guests staying at this luxury safari camp in the months of June and July can enjoy a wildlife experience like no other.

Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp is real comfort and luxury in an excellent wildlife setting, with ten luxurious tents that enjoy comfortable beds, excellent en-suite facilities that include open-air showers and authentic African furnishings.

Between game drives and in the evening guests can relax and chill out in the camp’s thatched, open-fronted areas, vibrantly furnished and, in the evening, bathed in soft lamplight. The ample decks overlooking the river being absolutely perfect for enjoying a cool sun downer drink. Dinner is cooked on traditional fires and outdoor ovens and eaten under a canopy of stars whilst being serenaded by the calls of resident hippos. On request private dinners can also be arranged for that special or romantic occasion.

A day in camp begins very early by enjoying a welcome hot drink brought to your tent before heading out by 4 x 4 vehicle with professional, knowledgeable driver/guide on the first game drive of the day. Returning to the camp you will find a delicious al fresco breakfast waiting for you. Once refreshed and rested guests can catch up on a nap after such an early start, use the swimming pool or review that morning’s latest photographic haul. There is no doubt that this is an ideal destination for any keen wildlife photographer.

As the afternoon temperature cools it’s off with your driver for the second game drive of the day to witness the wildlife herds before they settle for the coming night and to perhaps catch the predators as they rouse themselves and warm up for their nightly hunt.

Imagine if you will, a hot air balloon rising like a mist in the early dawn into the warming African morning to float over the wide plains giving total appreciation to the full scale of the endless living panorama below. This memory will live with you forever.
