Jaci's Safari Lodge in the Madikwe game reserve in South Africa is built around an ancient termite mound overlooking a water hole that attracts plentiful wildlife.
It is ideal for a family safari in South Africa as it is well equipped to cater for children and parents alike. The main guest area at Jaci’s Safari Lodge is unique, it’s open plan under a shady canopy of trees, and it sits on the banks of the Marico River. As Jaci’s Safari Lodge is situated in the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve which boasts over 75,000 hectares full of rich game viewing opportunities this is the perfect location for a family safari.
Jaci’s Safari Lodge cleverly blends itself into the surrounding habitat. The lodge has only eight rooms, and two suites the Safari suite and the Nare Suite. All the rooms and suites are thoughtfully constructed with thatched roofs and canvas walls to create a "tented" feel. Each room has an open plan bathroom with a hand built "rock" bath and outdoor "safari" shower. A private wooden viewing deck at the entrance overlooks a small stream where animals and birds come to drink.
Whilst spending a few nights on safari at Jaci’s you’ll be able to enjoy sumptuous open fire cooked meals in an enclosed boma, or under the stars at a bush braai. During the day if you don’t wish to head out on safari then you can simply relax by the pool or enjoy bird watching from the hammock on the bank of the Groot Marico River.
Jaci’s Safari lodge caters well for children and welcomes all ages. Children are encouraged to join their parents on game drives with those aged below four invited to join ‘jungle drives’ which are tailored to children’s interests and attention spans. Activities for the children will include bush craft, inspector and detective trails, animal tracking, birds of a feather, touch tables, river safaris, game drives and walks.
For children over the age of seven and their families, safari activities such as early morning and evening game drives and canoe trips on the Marico River can be enjoyed, there are also safari walks with a ranger which children over twelve can join or you can simply lounge by the pool or in a hammock and watch the game at the nearby waterhole if you prefer to relax in camp one morning. If parents want to steal a few hours away for a game drive without the children or a romantic dinner, trained babysitters can be arranged to look after and entertain the children.
Jaci's Safari Lodge also has a fully equipped gym, overlooking the river and wonderful views can be enjoyed with a cool drink after an invigorating work out. From the deck watch the birds and the butterflies flit from bush to bush.
In the Madikwe Reserve you can expect to see a wide variety of game and many different species of birds on game viewing activities. Game drives daily in the mornings and evenings or walks with knowledgeable and experienced guides are part of Jaci's Safari Lodge African experience.
