Mont Rochelle in South Africa's winelands
Mont Rochelle Hotel is situated against the backdrop of the Klein Dassenberg Mountains above the historic village of Franschhoek commanding sweeping views of the surrounding vineyards. Mont Rochelle aims to provide its guests with the ultimate Gourmet Winelands experience enjoyed in a fine boutique hotel environment. The hotel is a superb base from which to venture out into the winelands and Cape Town (which is just an hour away).
Mont Rochelle is an elegant thatched country villa set out in its own wine estate, complete with its own working winery. Mont Rochelle really is for the food and wine connoisseur as not only does it offer superb wine tasting courses but also cookery courses to compliment the palate.
Mont Rochelle is an elegant manor house with stunning Cape Dutch architecture surrounded by carefully tended gardens and horse filled paddocks. Mont Rochelle although homely in atmosphere offers a personalized service and excellent example of real South African hospitality.
Each of Mont Rochelle’s 16 bedrooms and 6 suites is individually decorated, creating a unique ambiance. With en-suite bathrooms, telephones, televisions, safes, under-floor heating, air-conditioning and in-room refreshment facilities the rooms are very comfortable indeed. Each room has splendid views across the valleys of Franschhoek and the hotel itself has a wonderful spa if you need a little more pampering.
The Hotel spans over three large wings, giving you the privacy you would expect from a Boutique Hotel in South Africa. Guests arrive firstly in the Garden Wing of the Hotel which houses the Reception, Colonial Cigar Bar, eight Luxury Bedrooms, one Junior Suite and Business Centre.
In the Manor House part of the hotel are the Fine Dining Restaurant as well as two Junior Suites, one Deluxe Suite and two Luxury Bedrooms. A second restaurant serving Al Fresco meals, Wellness Facility, Sauna, Swimming Pool, Pool Bar and Gymnasium can also be found on the premises.
There are plenty of ways in which to while away your days in the winelands, you may wish to follow one of the nature trails through the vineyards for an invigorating country walk or a gentle stroll. There are mountain bikes available if you would like to head a little further a field or alternately, if you are looking for peace and tranquillity, there are some lovely little spots for a private picnic prepared for you by the hotel. For keen horse riders there are a selection of stables from which you can select a fine horse matched to your capabilities for a hack out for an our or two stopping for lunch at a local wine cellar.
Mont Rochelle itself also has its own Equestrian Centre and offers it’s guests the opportunity to enjoy a three hour Wine Tasting tour on horseback!
