The Steenberg wine estate is positioned on a historic farm on the gentle slopes of the glorious Stone Mountains just a twenty minute drive from the centre of Cape Town.

The area offers a wonderful location providing the setting for this elegant five star boutique hotel. After a few nights on safari in South Africa and perhaps a night or two in Cape Town the wine region of Constantia is the perfect retreat.

The Steenberg has the merit of being the oldest farm in the scenic Constantia Valley one of South Africa’s premier wine producing regions. Constantia’s cool, sea-facing slopes and imposing granite ridges, the Steenberg vineyard has developed an international standing for producing exceptional wines.

The Steenberg hotel is simply a beautiful destination it combines peace and tranquillity creating an exquisite place amongst vineyards whilst also offering an award winning winery and an 18-hole championship standard golf course.

The 18 hole course was planned to utilize all of the natural characteristics and hazards such as the vineyards, pine forest and gentle waterways that surround it. Its environmental diversity gives the course its unique and challenging quality. Although the course is open to the public preference is given to hotel guests and members. Guests will also enjoy the well-designed and refurbished clubhouse after completing the final hole.

The Steenberg hotel has just twenty one en-suite rooms and the three new well appointed Heritage Suites. The hotel buildings were constructed in 1682 and the Manor House, Jonkershuis and the Barn have since been confirmed as National Monuments. The buildings were affectionately restored and reburbished with their heritage in mind by sourcing antiques in the elegant styling of the 17th Century. The Steenberg hotel lounges exude a gracious combination of old world magic and modern convenience. The hotel’s premier rooms are modern with open plan spaces and feature terraces with vineyard or golf course views. Many of the bedrooms have private terraces where guests can relax alone for an opportunity to revitalizing the senses.

The hotel has a wonderful pool in which to relax whilst taking in the tremendous views of the Steenberg Mountains and beyond.

Catharina’s is the hotel’s multi-award winning restaurant which has a contemporary style and offers fabulous views of False Bay and of course the immediate Steenberg Mountains and productive vineyards. The restaurant has a international interior combined with a twist of Africa. The fabrics are tactile and homely and locally sourced as is the timber furniture. The restaurants talented and creative Executive Chef Garth Almazan epitomizes sophistication and blends it well with traditional South African cuisine. In combination his award winning menus and an extensive wine list will make your dining experience one not forgotten.

The Steenberg Spa is overseen by the skilled Ginkgo Spa & Wellness Group and offers everything from the signature Ginkgo "Elixir" Signature Massage to a hot spa bath.
