Luxury safari holidays in Kenya
When you arrive in Africa for your luxury safari you will be met and transferred approximately three hours by road to Amboseli National Park where you stay at Amboseli Porini Camp for two nights. Amboseli Porini Camp is located within the exclusive Selenkay Conservancy, in the Amboseli eco-system, an important wildlife dispersal area and rangeland for wildlife moving out of Amboseli National park. Porini is a small traditional safari camp, with just nine spacious guest tents, comfortably furnished and with en-suite bathrooms including shower, wash basin and flush toilet. Going on safari in a 'proper' safari vehicle gives a far better safari experience than travelling in the minibus vans with window seats used by other tour operators. And as Selenkay Conservation Area is a private game reserve you will typically not see any other vehicles or minibuses. One of the most important aspects of a safari vacation in Africa is the level of guiding. From Amboseli Porini Camp guests have game drives with excellent guides in the Selenkay Conservancy and in the Amboseli National Park. A full day is spent in the park with a picnic lunch to get close to the elephants and other wildlife. One of the highlights is an escorted walk with Maasai warriors to visit an authentic Maasai village. Night game drives are taken in the Selenkay Conservancy to seek out the nocturnal animals. Safari holidays in Africa usually combine a few alternative lodges and camps and your next is Rhino Camp where you stay for two nights.
Porini Rhino Camp is located in Ol Pejeta Conservancy a 90,000 acre wildlife conservancy situated between the foot hills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya. African holidays are often depicted with a famous mountain as the back drop or a wildlife event captured in a moment the shock is when you get there and realise that it is just like the picture. As a true luxury safari is usually set off the beaten track we would suggest Porini Rhino Camp as it is hidden in a secluded valley and set amongst shady acacia trees on the banks of a seasonal river. The safari camp consists of six spacious guest tents, each comfortably furnished with en-suite bathrooms. The camp is very environmentally friendly with solar powered lighting and no generator. Game drives are taken in the camp’s 4x4 safari vehicles with qualified safari guides. Guided walks are taken on the open plains escorted by Maasai warriors. Night drives are also taken to see the nocturnal animals. Ol Pejeta Conservancy boasts an astounding variety of animals including all the “Big Five” (the endangered black rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion) as well a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees and also incorporates the smaller Sweetwaters Game Reserve. The combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari vacation and one of the best safari holidays Africa has to offer.
In the morning you will be transferred to the airstrip where you board the scheduled Safari Link flight departing at 09:45 to the Masai Mara. On arrival at 11:00 you will be met and transferred to Mara Porini Camp where you stay for two nights (including meals, drinks, safari activities and park fees). A luxury safari in the Masai Mara is not to be missed, rolling plains and the infamous migration are completely unforgettable. Mara Porini Camp has recently been set up in the exclusive wildlife conservancy of Ol Kinyei, one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in the Serengeti-Mara eco-system. This is pristine wilderness with open savannah plains, riverine forest, springs, streams and rivers, rolling hills and spectacular views across the Mara.
Mara Porini Camp has just six guest tents sited in the shade of Yellow-barked Acacia trees along the banks of the Laetoli, a permanent spring within Ol Kinyei. The tents are spacious and each has en-suite bathroom with flush toilet and safari shower. The camp accommodates a maximum of twelve guests, giving the experience of real camping in the bush in an exclusive private wilderness but with all the comforts required by discerning travellers. Food is excellent with home baked bread, fresh salads and high quality meals prepared by the camp chef. All touches that add to Luxury safari holidays.
Ol Kinyei belongs to a Maasai community who have recently set aside the conservancy as a sanctuary for wildlife. The conservancy holds a wide variety of the animal species for which the Mara is famous including a large resident pride of lions. Within the Ol Kinyei conservancy guests enjoy morning, evening and night game drives, sundowners at scenic viewing points and escorted walks with Maasai guides.
After breakfast you will be taken on a full day safari game drive in the Masai Mara Game Reserve with picnic lunch, arriving in the afternoon at Porini Lion Camp where you stay for two nights (including meals, drinks, safari activities and park fees).
African safari camps such as Porini Lion Camp are an excellent choice, located in the exclusive 20,000 acre Olare Orok Conservancy. This expansive conservancy, which borders the Masai Mara Game Reserve is home to an abundance of animals including the Big Cats for which the Mara is famous which almost guarantees fabulous game viewing adding to the whole style of luxury holidays Africa has to offer.
The safari camp is situated along the banks of the Ntiakatiak River, a seasonal river with some permanent hippo pools near the camp. The ten luxury safari guest tents are very spacious and have private verandas along the length of the tent, providing a secluded and private 'space' for you to relax and enjoy the beauty on holiday in this African wilderness. Each tent has en-suite bathroom with flush toilets and hot showers.
At camp guests enjoy morning, evening and night game drives in custom built 4x4's. Sundowners at scenic viewing points, from where you can enjoy a drink watching the sun set over the Mara. And escorted bush walks with Maasai warriors and safari guide, where you can get an insight into the Maasai people, their way of life and also learn more about the animals, birds and plants of the Mara.
