Luxury safari camps and lodges in Africa
Opulent Africa is one of the few Tour Operators that are completely independent which allows us to provide our clients with the very best advice possible when planning an African safari holiday. It also enables us to use the resources of the high quality safari operators and accommodation available.
We want you to have the ultimate safari experience and to that end we are constantly updating our information with regular inspection visits to the properties we offer, both tried and tested, together with those that are new to the market to ensure our approach and offer is always fresh and new but backed by solid reliability.
There is a vast range of luxury accommodation offering a bewildering choice to the potential traveller. Despite the variation in style – intimate tented camps and lodges, safari chic properties with stylish suites, barefoot luxury on the beach or sumptuous city hotels they share the common attributes of comfort, superb location, excellent facilities, fabulous cuisine and great customer service. Within a cosmopolitan city such as Cape Town the excellent hotels have easy access to many means of entertainment and excitement all around them together with historical sights and fabulous scenery. In the depths of the Masai Mara or South Luangwa of Zambia for example, the wildlife is the key which provides the excitement and therefore it is crucial that the guides and staff are of the highest standard to facilitate this experience and of course protect their guests.
Many of the tented camps may only have six or eight tents which will deliver a truly intimate and authentic African safari experience. The management and hosts create an atmosphere of family within these small camps and time and time again this is what our clients have told us they enjoy the most. It is sheer magic how the chefs produce such delicious meals in the middle of a wilderness – from welcome bush breakfasts and lunches to excellent al fresco dinners eaten under the stars by candlelight. The luxury safari lodges may have just a few more guests therefore ideal if you prefer a little more social interaction in the lounge areas and the additional facilities will probably suit families better. All rooms, tented or lodge, have en-suite facilities, proper beds and lots of space to relax in between or after your game drive.
The guides are all expertly equipped, knowledgeable and friendly – in fact it is often the guides that leave a lasting impression on guests particularly those that build such a rapport with the children and let Mum and Dad truly relax. Game drives in private vehicles may be an optional extra and this is perfect for those that may want to be flexible in how long they spend at one particular sight or activity such as keen photographers. Although young children are not permitted out on all game drives or at all accommodation, families too will benefit from the use of a private vehicle.
The list below is just a snapshot of the luxury hotels, lodges and camps we use on a regular basis for our clients. This is not an exhaustive roll call as we are constantly changing and improving the properties we suggest but it will give you a flavour and perhaps a starting point for your own African safari holiday………….
