South Africa as a safari vacation destination provides an excellent range of very different holiday experiences – from vibrant cities such as Cape Town with its chic cosmopolitan hotels and historic Johannesburg; lush wide sweeping valleys of the Winelands with its attractive lodges and top class restaurants, rustic style comfy homesteads and world famous wine cellars to superb Big Five game reserves with its wide range of safari lodges and suites.
As well as having a rich historical background Cape Town also enjoys very up to the minute attractions such as the exciting Victoria and Alfred Waterfront with its gourmet restaurants, shopping and excellent hotels situated both right in the heart of the city and within a short thirty minute distance. The Cape Royale enjoys panoramic views over both the city and the Atlantic Ocean while The Cape Grace even has its own private quay. The pink Mount Nelson Hotel set in a lush garden estate, a short drive away close to the city’s cultural centre and Cape Town Railway Station from where the elegant trains of Rovos Rail and the Blue Train snake across Africa evoking a bygone age of travel.
Grootbos Private Nature Reserve lies just outside Hermanus on the whale watching coast and has two luxury lodges providing an excellent base for many activities.
The Winelands fan out in lush green valleys holding the jewels of the world famous vineyards and historic towns of Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschoek.
