The next morning, after breakfast, you will set off with your guide to explore the Lemur’s Park, located about 20 km from the city. This private reserve is home to several species of Madagascar’s iconic lemurs, offering a perfect introduction to the island’s unique wildlife. In the afternoon, return to the city to explore Antananarivo’s historical upper town, where you will admire stunning French-inspired architecture and visit the old colonial railway station, built in 1910. You will enjoy lunch at the CITIZEN restaurant, an enchanting property with spectacular views over Lake Anosy and the Queen’s Palace.

During your stay, you will embark on a full-day adventure to the Grand Tsingy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its towering limestone pinnacles. You will navigate hanging rope bridges, squeeze through narrow passages, and discover the region’s incredible biodiversity, including Verreaux’s sifakas, Decken’s sifakas, red-fronted brown lemurs, and over 100 bird species. This awe-inspiring landscape offers one of Madagascar’s most unique trekking experiences.

Days 6 to 8: Ranohira – Discovering Isalo National Park
After breakfast, you will board a private charter flight to Isalo, where you will be transferred to Hotel Le Jardin du Roy, a stunning lodge set against a backdrop of rugged sandstone formations. In the afternoon, you will have time to explore the hotel’s beautiful surroundings and relax before dinner.
The following day is dedicated to exploring Isalo National Park, known for its dramatic landscapes of deep canyons, rolling plains, and unique rock formations. You will embark on a guided hike, where you can spot ring-tailed lemurs, brown lemurs, sifakas, and nocturnal lemur species hidden along the streams. Keep an eye out for rare bird species such as Benson’s rock-thrush, the knob-billed duck, and the crested ibis. Depending on your interests and fitness level, your guide will suggest different trails, such as the Canyon des Singes, which leads to the stunning Piscine Naturelle, a natural rock pool where you can take a refreshing dip.

Days 8 to 11: Ifotaka – Cultural Immersion and Spiny Forest Exploration
After breakfast, you will take a charter flight to Ifotaka, where you will be welcomed and transferred to Mandrare River Camp for a 3 night stay, a remote and luxurious tented camp offering breath-taking views of the Mandrare River.
In the evening, you will take a night walk in the Zenavo Forest, where you can observe sifakas settling in for the night, white-foot sportive lemurs, and two species of mouse lemurs. Keep an eye out for chameleons, owls, and other nocturnal creatures that make this forest come alive after sunset.
During your stay you will explore the sacred gallery forest. Depending on the river depth, you may cross by boat or on foot to observe ring-tailed lemurs and Verreaux’s sifakas. In the late afternoon, you will embark on a guided walk through the sacred spiny forest, where towering octopus trees and ancestral tombs of the Antandroy people offer a deep cultural experience. Your guide and a local tracker will introduce you to Antandroy traditions, followed by sundowners along the Mandrare Riverbanks.
On your final full day, you will wake early for a sunrise walk in the Spiny Forest, where you can spot endemic bird species such as the crested coua and running coua. After breakfast, you will visit the local village and market, meeting members of the Antandroy tribe. In the late afternoon, you will enjoy a sundowner amongst the baobabs, watching the sunset while soaking in the beauty of this remote wilderness. In the evening, you may have the opportunity to witness a traditional Antandroy dance and music performance, an integral part of their culture.
